Paying it ForwardSupport to End Hunger

Kids' Meals and Rise Against Hunger are two organizations with several things in common. They are both passionate about the providing food to those in need - both in Houston and around the world and they both rely on Safety Vision technology to keep their drivers safe.

Kids' Meals: Addressing Childhood Hunger, Making a Difference

Since its establishment in 2006, Kids' Meals has been at the forefront of combating childhood hunger by preparing and delivering nutritious meals free of charge directly to underprivileged children's homes. With a profound impact over the years, Kids' Meals has distributed more than 13.5 million meals to food-insecure children residing in 56 zip codes in and around Houston, Texas. This vital initiative directly addresses the plight of children aged 5 and under who are grappling with severe hunger resulting from extreme poverty.

    A Unique and Impactful Program

As the only initiative of its kind across the nation, the growth and success of Kids' Meals has been made possible by the collective effort and support of the community and corporate partners like Safety Vision. What started with just two delivery vans has expanded into a fleet comprising 21 vans. Safety Vision donated full vision enhancement camera systems for the initial fleet of 10 vans and continued to support and equip all new Kids’ Meals vans and trucks ever since then.

These camera systems provide drivers with a full view of the sides and rear which is critical in navigating neighborhood streets and apartment complexes. Drivers say the cameras help them feel more secure since they know that small children may run towards the vans with excitement about the meals they’ll soon receive. Seeing them on the cameras prevents tragic accidents from happening.

    The Safety Vision Impact

According to CEO, Beth Harp, Safety Vision is critical not only for keeping our staff safe but also the families we serve. If anything ever happened [to a van], we can locate them immediately and if there was an accident, there is a record of exactly what happened. We can go right into the software and retrieve a great recording of the incident that can be used that for insurance purposes”.

In conclusion, Kids' Meals stands as a beacon of hope, offering sustenance and support to the most vulnerable members of our community. Beth Harp added, “We are so grateful that Safety Vision is on our side as our wonderful partner to keep us safe in delivering these critical meals to children”.

Rise Against Hunger: Nourishing Lives, Empowering Communities

Rise Against Hunger is a distinguished international 501(c)(3) humanitarian organization fueled by the profound vision of a world without hunger. Its comprehensive mission is encapsulated in the Pathways to End Hunger framework, which encompasses Nourishing Lives, Empowering Communities, Responding to Emergencies, and Growing the Movement. Through these pathways, the organization is dedicated to not only providing immediate relief to those plagued by hunger today but also to implementing sustainable strategies that will uplift entire communities for years to come.

With its presence spanning across the United States and supported by five international offices, Rise Against Hunger's impactful meal packaging program and diverse engagement opportunities present volunteers with hands-on and virtual experiences. Meals are loaded in large box trucks and driven by volunteers to distribution centers where they must navigate tight warehouse receiving chutes presenting numerous opportunities for backing incidents and damage. These trucks were not equipped with any rear vison cameras, until Safety Vision offered to donate several systems to the Houston and Dallas vehicles.

    The Safety Vision Impact

None of these trucks were equipped with rear vison cameras or monitors, until Safety Vision offered to donate several systems to the Houston and Dallas vehicles. These systems made drivers feel so secure and safe when negotiating tight streets and distribution centers that the CEO of Rise of Hunger ordered systems for all of their trucks nationwide.

These are two small examples where Safety Vision saw the need and stepped up to provide camera systems to help these deserving organizations deliver food and eliminate the curse of hunger. We are proud to be a part of their noble missions.
